YouTube transcript to Airtable
Click a button on an Airtable record with a YouTube ID and get the video's subtitles saved as timestamped text in the record
Version 1
v1 · First release.4 Aug 2025
What it does
A webhook starts it, usually from an Airtable button that passes the base, table and record ids. It sets the record's Status to In Progress and asks the YouTube Media Downloader API on RapidAPI for the video's details, using the Youtube ID field.
If subtitles are ready, it downloads the first subtitle track, turns the XML into plain text lines that each start with the time in seconds, and saves the result to the Youtube Transcript field with Subtitles AI Status set to AI Complete. If they are not ready, it sets Subtitles AI Status to AI Subtitle Not Ready and waits two minutes before checking again.
